Mugu: The Purumuru village in Soru rural municipality-6 of Mugu has witnessed the tragic demise of three individuals due to a suspected outbreak of viral fever. The deceased have been identified as Hari Bahadur Shahi (72), Kriti Chantyal (75), and Kushum Dholi (24), as reported by local resident Karnajit Bumi.

The viral fever outbreak has spread across various areas, including Jima, Bhiee, Natharpu, Sipa, Khyalcha, and Bumcha, in addition to Purumuru. The District Hospital in Mugu is grappling with a surge in patients, and concerns have been raised by locals regarding the apparent lack of medical and governmental support.

Expressing the desperation of the affected population, Karnajit Bumi highlighted the urgent need for assistance. Reports indicate that local health posts are facing shortages of essential supplies, including basic medications like paracetamol. In response to the escalating situation, the District Health Office conducted health checkups for over 150 individuals in Purumuru and Jima on Tuesday.

Dr. Kamal Dhungana from the District Hospital explained that the viral fever is being exacerbated by the intensifying cold weather and emphasized that it may take some time to bring the situation under control. Common symptoms of the fever include persistent sweating, headaches, muscle pain, loss of appetite, and fatigue.

The affected community is fervently appealing for immediate government intervention to address the pressing health crisis and provide the necessary medical support to mitigate the impact of the viral outbreak.
